A Severe Flash Flood Warning is in effect for Central Pecos County in southwestern Texas, according to the National Weather Service. The warning is active until 5:15 PM CDT on September 26, 2026.
The warning was issued at 2:08 PM CDT after Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have already fallen, with an additional up to 1 inch possible.
A Flash Flood Warning indicates that flash flooding is either occurring or will occur soon. This may lead to rapid rises in water levels, potentially impacting small creeks, streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses, as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

If you encounter a flooded road, turn around and find an alternate route. In hilly terrain, do not attempt to cross flooded roads, as low water crossings can be particularly dangerous.
