A Severe Flood Watch is in effect for parts of southeast Texas, including Tyler, Hardin, Southern Jasper, Southern Newton, Upper Jefferson, Northern Orange, Lower Jefferson, and Southern Orange. The watch is in effect from 31 August 2026, 10:07 AM until 2 September 2026, 7:00 AM.

This alert indicates that flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. Areas prone to flooding may experience excessive runoff, which could result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying locations. Flooding may also occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

In the event of a flood, contact emergency services at 911. The National Weather Service (NWS) advises monitoring later forecasts and being alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop. Avoid walking or driving through flooded areas and move to higher ground if necessary.
