The affected areas include Montague, Cooke, Grayson, Fannin, Young, Jack, Wise, Denton, Collin, Hunt, Stephens, Palo Pinto, Parker, Tarrant, Dallas, Rockwall, Kaufman, Eastland, Erath, Hood, Somervell, Johnson, Ellis, Comanche, Mills, Hamilton, Bosque, Hill, Navarro, Lampasas, Coryell, and McLennan counties.
This warning indicates that dangerously hot conditions are expected, with temperature values reaching up to 111 on Monday and up to 107 on Tuesday. Such extreme heat may significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those engaged in outdoor activities. Additionally, hot and dry conditions are elevating the risk of wildfires.
To stay safe during this extreme heat event, the NWS recommends drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air-conditioned rooms, and avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun. Check on relatives and neighbors, especially those who may be more vulnerable to heat. Never leave young children or pets unattended in vehicles. If you observe symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke, take immediate action. Move the affected person to a cool and shaded location and call 911 for emergency assistance. Heat stroke is a medical emergency.
