When she decided to start a family, her cardiologist initially cleared her for pregnancy. However, a referral to Dr. Ildiko Agoston at University Health revealed a different story. Further testing showed that Malea needed a valve replacement before attempting pregnancy, a discovery that Malea believes “likely saved my life as well as any child that could have come.”
With the support of University Health’s cardiovascular team, Malea went on to have two healthy children, a boy in 2018 and a girl in 2026 both without complications. Her journey serves as a powerful reminder of the impact that philanthropy and exceptional care can have on individual lives.
