A Severe Flash Flood Warning is in effect for Dallas and Denton counties until 6:00AM CDT on July 13, 2026, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The warning was issued at 4:59AM CDT, with Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicating thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have fallen, with the heaviest rain occurring just west of I-35E in Lewisville. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area.
A Flash Flood Warning indicates that flooding is either occurring or imminent. Small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses, as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas, may experience flash flooding.
In the event of a flood emergency, contact 911 immediately. Follow the guidance of the National Weather Service and local authorities. To stay safe, turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads, as most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Avoid low-lying areas and do not drive on flooded roads.
