This 5.4-acre deck park which has become a vital link between the Uptown and Downtown Dallas neighborhoods, is set to grow even larger, promising to attract more visitors and stimulate economic growth in the area.
Expanding the urban oasis
Since its opening in 2012 Klyde Warren Park has been a catalyst for growth generating over $6 billion in economic impact for the surrounding areas. The park, initially built at a cost of more than $100 million has become a beloved destination for both locals and tourists alike.
The upcoming expansion aims to build upon this success by adding an additional 1.7 acres of space over the Woodall Rodgers Freeway. The plans include a new event pavilionreception spaces and versatile outdoor lawns that can host concerts and transform into an ice skating rink during the winter months. Construction is scheduled to begin this fall, with an expected completion date in late 2028.

The expansion has been in the works for quite some time, with Jody Grant the chairman of Klyde Warren Park, stating that the project has been in their sights for the last 20 years. Over the past 10 years the team has been diligently working on the design, ensuring that every detail is meticulously planned.
We’ve had this in our sights for the last 20 years, but we’ve been working intensely on it for the last 10 years. So, we’ve got a turnkey project. It’s already designed where each screw is supposed to go. So it’s a turnkey product Grant explained.
Dallas Mayor Eric L. Johnson also expressed his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting its significance in driving the city’s growth. Klyde Warren Park embodies the bold steps forward that we can take with innovative vision. This is the type of project that has made Dallas one of the most successful and fast-rising cities in America Johnson said.

Once the expansion is complete, Klyde Warren Park will span more than 7 acres offering even more green space for residents and visitors to enjoy. The project is expected to take two years to complete, with the new spaces and attractions set to open in late 2028.
