The family’s ordeal intensified when a physician recommended that Annelise be declared brain-dead just two days after her admission. The Camps, however, remained hopeful and sought additional time for their daughter’s recovery. Johnston Camp expressed their determination, stating, “If there’s that 1% chance or that 5% chance of results, we’re going to take it.” The family’s resolve has been unwavering, driven by the belief that every possible opportunity should be given to Annelise.

The family’s efforts to secure more time and treatment options led to a temporary restraining order in Harris County.
