In the heart of San Antonio, a unique partnership is thriving in the real estate world. Wayne Ramireza seasoned real estate professional, and his daughter, Angela Bartelsa former tech specialist, have joined forces to navigate the city’s dynamic housing market. Their journey is a testament to the power of family, adaptability, and a deep understanding of the local landscape.

Their collaboration began in 2026 when Bartels, inspired by her father’s advice, decided to pivot from her tech career to real estate. This shift marked the beginning of a new chapter for both of them, one that combines Ramirez’s extensive experience with Bartels’ tech-savvy approach.

Navigating Market Fluctuations

The San Antonio housing market has seen its share of ups and downs in recent years. In May 2026, the market showed signs of stabilization, with 3,637 homes sold, a 5% increase over the same month the previous year, according to the San Antonio Board of Realtors (SABOR). This surge in sales was accompanied by an expanded inventory of homes for sale, with properties selling for an average of almost 93% of their original list price.

However, the market is not without its challenges. In late 2026, home sales dipped by 18% due to a combination of factors, including sellers holding onto low, pandemic-era mortgage rates and high interest rates dampening buyer affordability. Despite these fluctuations, Ramirez and Bartels have found ways to adapt and thrive.

The Impact of Tech and Marketing

Bartels’ background in tech and marketing has brought a fresh perspective to their real estate business. She joined the team after working at companies like RackspaceScaleworksand Big Sun Solarbringing with her a deep network and a sense for ‘fanatical’ customer service. Her experience in tech has been instrumental in leveraging platforms and marketing techniques to get homes noticed in a competitive market.

Ramirez acknowledges the importance of these skills, stating, ‘The industry has gotten so you need some platforms, you need some really good marketing techniques, and things like that to get someone’s house out in the market, because the competition is so hard right now.’

A Family Affair

Working together has not been without its adjustments. Bartels admits that introducing her father to clients and associates as her dad felt awkward at first. However, she quickly came to rely on his deep well of real estate knowledge and his innate understanding of San Antonio neighborhoods and culture.

‘I’ll have a situation where I’m like, I don’t know what to do, and I’ll call him,’ Bartels said. Ramirez’s extensive background in dealing with contracts and mortgages, along with his close relationships with many of their senior clients, has proven invaluable.

Their collaboration extends beyond the office. This Father’s Day, Ramirez plans to play a round of golf at the Olmos Basin Golf Course with his two sons and a grandson, followed by a family gathering with all his children and six grandchildren.

‘We’re very close. We’re all really good friends, so we’re always together,’ Bartels said. ‘My friends think it’s crazy [but] that’s just how we were brought up… we’re a very tight-knit family.’

For Bartels, working with her dad has become a blessing she didn’t expect. ‘Everybody said what a blessing it is for you to be working with your dad, and I never really thought of it that way,’ she said. ‘But now as a mother (with) kids, and you realize how time is precious, and just having that opportunity to work with my dad, I’m finding it more just a blessing.’
